Hi I am Paul Blake a Naturopath and the Cold Sheet treatment is one of the steps I did to save myself from prostate cancer.   I remember quite clearly the first time I finished it and was resting in bed.   My mother and step father were sitting across the room and I felt a surge of heat and a buzzing sound in my ears and I said “something is coming"  The next thing I knew it was morning and I felt tired but wonderful.

There is a great story that goes with the use of the Cold Sheet Treatment or Hydrotherapy (the use of hot and cold water) and I have heard and read different versions.   Here goes my version of how the Cold Sheet Treatment and Hydrotherapy began.   In ancient Europe in a small village during the dead of winter a fever had struck the local people and many had died.   One night a man who had caught this fever thought he would try to make it to the local doctors for treatment.   So he set out on foot through the heavy snow to the doctor’s house many miles away.   Before long it started to snow and soon the snow fall turned into a blizzard but the man very sick and cold pushed on.   Soon in the dark he came to a fairly wide stream with a fallen log bridge to use for crossing it.   In trying to cross the stream the man slipped and fell into the freezing water and was drenched to the skin.   As he dragged himself out of the icy water he realized he was going to die before he could make it to the doctors.   So he turned around hoping to make it back home to his family so he could at least see them one last time.   He was stumbling and delirious by the time he made it home to his wife and family.   They tucked him into bed as best they could expecting him to depart this life.   But, by the next day when he awoke he had fully recovered; in fact he had not felt this good in years even his lumbago was gone.   From then on whenever the man was sick he would go back to the stream and throw himself in.   Well this story got out and spread across Europe and people everywhere from the common man to kings and queens were putting themselves through various forms of icy cold and hot treatments to cure their diseases.   From the basic experience of this man a system of medical treatment through Hydrotherapy began and the Cold Sheet Treatment originated.   At one time hydrotherapy was taught at all medical universities but it was sadly set aside to be replaced by drug therapy.   Fortunately for you and I there were some very intelligent naturopathic doctors like Dr. John Ray Christopher who knew better and held on to the Cold Sheet Treatment because it works.

Thanks Paul

The purpose of the cold sheet treatment is to artificially induce or increase the body's temperature thereby accelerating the body’s immune response.  The important thing to remember anytime heat is used with the body, is to keep very well hydrated.  A high temperature in a well hydrated body is safe and even healthy.  The temperature can rise to 103 or 104 degrees Fahrenheit.  However if the body is dehydrated and the temperature is raised, the body can overheat causing seizure or damage.  Drinking plenty of fluids is more than sipping a savory tea.  It is drinking until your stomach is full and then drinking some more.    As Dr. Christopher would say “when the tea flows out of your ears that is enough”.   Below is the cold sheet treatment as taught by Dr. John Christopher and written out by Dr. Kyle D. Christensen with a few modifications that can be made.

Indications: The cold sheet treatment is used during the course of any infectious illness such as a cold, the flu or Pneumonia.   It can also be used with chronic degenerative illness like cancer and AIDS.

Contraindications: Small children, the very elderly, heart disease or moderate to severe hypertensive conditions, extreme weakness and debility.  (For goodness sakes, use your common sense.)  This procedure unmodified is quite rigorous so if you are inexperienced or if your patient is constitutionally very weak use your good judgment.

This procedure is not to be done alone.  Have one or two people administer this to the patient.

The Cold Sheet Treatment Instructions

1. Begin with a cool enema of herbal tea (Red Raspberry or Catnip herbal tea is good).  This is designed to cleanse and clear the bowel of loose fecal matter in preparation for step 2 the garlic injection.  You may want to evacuate the bowel a couple of times.  Each time hold the water in the bowel as long as you can before releasing.  Be sure and lubricate the enema tip with oil or Vaseline.

2. Next use a rectal syringe from the drug store to introduce a garlic solution.  In a blender mix 8-10 cloves of fresh garlic in 1 cup of water and 1 cup of apple cider vinegar.  Filter out garlic pulp and save for step 4 then put the solution in the syringe.  For many this is the most intense part of this procedure.  It is very safe, but does burn.  Squirt in as much of the solution as you can.  Keep the garlic solution in as long as you can, usually about 2 minutes before expelling.  Even after expelling it, you will retain enough to do you good.  The burning and cramping will subside in a couple of minutes.

3. Make a tea bag out of a sock and add into it one or more ounces of ginger root powder, yellow mustard powder and cayenne pepper powder.  Fill the bath as hot as is tolerable without burning the skin and place the sock tea bag in the water.  Before the patient gets in, it is important to coat the genitals with plenty of Vaseline.  Put the patient in the bath and begin giving them hot/warm herbal tea to drink.  Use yarrow (one of the best diaphoretics) or peppermint or ginger tea.  The goal is to drink 6 to 8 full cups of tea.  It is the helpers' job to get as much tea as possible into the patient.  If the patient becomes faint or light-headed, place a cold washcloth on the forehead.  Cayenne tincture in the mouth will also prevent faintness.  If the muscles become rigid or begin to spasm use lobelia tincture orally.  Keep the patient in the tub for at least a half hour.  Usually by 20 minutes they'll be aching to get out, but keep them in as long a possible drinking tea until it's coming out their ears.

4. Prepare a double sized cotton sheet (it must be 100% cotton) by soaking it in a sink or tub of water and ice.  Use lots of ice.  Prepare the patients bed by putting a plastic sheet or lining against the mattress under the bed sheets.  When the patient stands up out of the bath wrap the ice-cold sheet around him/her.  Then escort them to bed wrapped in the sheet.  Tuck them into bed, sheet and all then cover with natural fiber blankets.  Wrap them up in a cozy cocoon with a towel around the head leaving a face opening.  Dr. Christopher recommends coating the soles of the feet with a thick garlic paste, then putting socks on the feet before putting them in bed.  The paste is made by mixing mashed garlic with Vaseline.  You can use the garlic that you strained from step two.

5. By lying in the sheet for several hours (preferably over night), the body will continue to sweat out toxins.  Often the sheet will be stained with these toxins.  Keep the patient in bed for at least 2-3 hours, preferably all night.

6. Upon arising sponge off with apple cider vinegar and water (half and half) before taking a shower.  This will wipe the toxins off the skin so they won't be reabsorbed during the shower.

7. Give the patient only fruit or vegetable juices and herbal teas for the next one to three days to provide a more thorough cleansing.  Of course you should continue taking immune boosting herbs and herbal formula such as Echinacea, Goldenseal, Cats Claw, Immune Boost or Anti-Plague Formula.

Modifications to Cold Sheet Treatment

There are countless modifications to this procedure.  For example with a child, you can simply put them in warm bath, have them drink some herbal tea, give them Immune Boost, then tuck them into bed.  However, for the full impact and benefit especially when it is life or death follow the full procedure (don't wimp out on the enemas or the cold sheet because it sounds harsh or radical).
