Mercury Dangers

In its natural state, the chemical Mercury poses no real treat to the human body but its refined compounds Methyl and Ethyl Mercury are deadly.  Their ability to destroy living things is why they are in pesticides and fungicides.  At their worst, they can kill all living things, or, at the very least, cause cellular damage and organ dysfunction.  When ingested in any form, Mercury produces destructive changes in the mucus membrane linings of the gastrointestinal tract.  Mercury can damage literally every cell with which it comes into contact.  Mercury molecules, no matter how tiny the amount that enters the body, can cause destruction, particularly in cells of the kidneys, liver, and brain.

Our Industry and the very people we look to to protect us in our government (the E.P.A., F.D.A., C.D.C., A.M.A., A.D.A. and others) have been allowing this poison to enter our environment including our food supply.  Mercury is found in our soil, water, food and even our mouths in the form of fillings.  Mercury is now found in almost every area of our environment; sewage sludge, fungicides, pesticides, grains and seeds (some are treated with Methyl Mercury), chlorine bleaches, cosmetics, fabric softeners, batteries, industrial instruments, inks, tattoos, latex, many medications and inoculations, some paints, plastics, polishes, solvents, and wood preservatives.

The Mercury poisoning of our environment is now so pervasive that we are being cautioned to keep track of the amounts of foods we consume such as salmon and tuna.  This tracking can be somewhat complicated when it comes to salmon.  Example: No more than one serving per month of farmed salmon of any kind.  That's easy enough; sounds like very toxic stuff.  However, wild salmon is not so easy.  With wild salmon, you need to know the area where it was caught and the type of salmon.  For instance Wild Alaskan Chinook; don't eat it more than once a month it's toxic.  On the other hand Wild Kodiak Alaskan Chum is the best, you may eat it eight times a month, sounds safer.  But wait a minute they all have Mercury in them.  Who decides how much is safe?  Especially when we are dealing with a poisonous toxin like Mercury.  It's the E.P.A., the very people who allowed this to happen in the first place. Are they protecting us or the fishing industry?   We pay their salaries but their track record shows that they do not represent us as mush as those who got us into this problem in the first place.

I read the F.D.A., and E.P.A. warnings to women who might become pregnant or who are pregnant or who are nursing young children.  If I were trying to decide for the safety of another life I would be very suspicious of their advice, it is very weak.  They were advising that you could eat two servings a week of salmon but they did not specify what type of salmon or where it was from.  They were in favor of eating fish for a healthy diet, that this was worth the risk of ingesting small amounts of mercury, which they said studies showed would not affect most people.   From this confusing information about the danger to the unborn and infants, how safe are the rest of us.  This reminds me of the old story about the canary in the mine.  Mercury may or may not be bothering me now but how long before it is.

The Mercury in Vaccines Such as Childhood Vaccinations and Flu Shots
Mercury in our vaccines such as flu shots contain a dangerous amount of this poison.   A common myth is that Thimerosal is added to vaccines in 'trace' amounts," said Mike Wagnitz, who has over 20 years experience evaluating materials for mercury and is employed as a senior chemist with the University of Wisconsin. "The concentration of mercury in a multi-dose flu vaccine vial is 50,000 parts per billion. To put this in perspective, drinking water cannot exceed 2 parts per billion of mercury, and waste is considered hazardous if it has only 200 parts per billion. Is it really safe then to inject pregnant women, newborns, and infants with levels of mercury 250 times higher than what is legally classified as hazardous waste?"

At this time the C.D.C. still advises women who are pregnant to take the mercury containing shots!
Agreeing that mercury has no place in vaccines, seven states have passed Thimerosal bans in recent years: California, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, New York, and Washington. California is the first to have implemented the ban for the current flu season, but Governor Schwarzenegger temporarily overturned the ban on November 2 after a shortage of mercury-free flu shots led to pressure from state medical groups.

Our body has no natural protection against Mercury including our immune system.  It is a cumulative poison and we have no barrier that prohibits mercury from reaching the brain cells.  Mercury is retained in the pain center of the brain and in the central nervous system.  Its presence there can prevent both the normal entry of nutrients into the cells and the removal of wastes from the cells.  It can bind to immune cells, distorting them and interfering with normal immune responses.  All of us are being affected by this poison, some of us more than others it depends on your genetic sensitivity.  This sensitivity may be the factor behind the rocketing rise in autoimmune diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis and Chronic Fatigue.  There are now approximately 64 autoimmune diseases ranging form Alopecia Areata to Wagener's Granulomatosis.  We need to ask the question, have we become so toxic that our immune system is attacking our own cells?

Mercury can cause a multitude of physical and psychological problems.  The physicians of today have no training in how to find the root of the problem.  Today's doctor translates symptoms into Latin, look it up in their textbook, and apply a cookbook treatment of drugs and medical procedures.  With a toxin that poisons fundamental metabolic processes, different people will experience different subclinical symptoms to start off, depending on their own individual biochemistry.  As the poisoning becomes more and more serious, further symptoms surface and the modern doctor adds more diagnoses ' a patient who starts with depression might later be considered to have hypothyroidism, allergies and asthma in addition.  But no thought is given to why one person should develop more and more 'different disease symptoms,' when a single diagnosis of chronic mercury poisoning could account for them all and at the least be ruled out.

Some of the diseases that a physician might mistakenly misdiagnose where the root cause is subclinical mercury poisoning: Addison's disease, Allergies, Alzheimer's disease, Amylotrophic lateral sclerosis, Ankylosing spondylitis, Anorexia nervosa, Anxiety, Asthma, Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, Autism, Autoimmune disease, Bipolar disorder, Borderline personality disorder, Bulimia, Candidiasis, Chronic fatigue, Colitis, Crohn's disease, Depression, Endocrine disorders, Environmental illness, Fibromyalgia, Food allergies, Gastritis, Hypogonadism, Hypothyroidism, Infertility, Insomnia, Irritable bowel syndrome, Juvenile arthritis, Learning disabilities, Lupus erythromatosus, Manic depression, Multiple chemical sensitivities, Multiple sclerosis, Myasthenia gravis, Obsessive-compulsive disorder, Panic attacks, Parkinson's disease, Pervasive developmental disorder, Psychosis, Rheumatoid arthritis, Schizophrenia, Sciatica, Sleep disorders, Yeast syndrome

Another point here is which came first Mercury poisoning or the disease.  Some of the above listed diseases could be directly caused by exposure to Mercury and/or other environmental toxins because at this time diseases such as Fibromyalgia, Alzheimer's etc. as yet have no known cause, says medical science.

Three of the above diseases have a strong link to Mercury; Alzheimer's disease, Autism Disorder, and Parkinson's disease.  Alzheimer's accounts for 50,000 deaths, and $100 billion cost.  New Autism cases in children born with it in 1994, 5,108 cases, in 2002 the number jumped to 20,377 cases (cost per case $20,000 no estimate of cost to family).  Autism is now the number one disability entering the medical care system in California.  Parkinson's Disease affects 1.5 million Americans and there is still no known cause, lab test or cure says modern science.
